1. Start SSMA. Make sure you choose the 32-bit version.
2. Create a new project (File, New Project).
3. Choose the SSMA_Project folder in the Migration Box project folder as the location for the SSMA project.
4. Give the project a recognizable name.

1. Go to Tools, Project Settings, General, Conversion, System functions and check if the settings configured in phase 1 (step 3) are used.
2. Go to Tools, Project Settings, Type Mapping and check if the settings configured in phase 1 (step 4) are used.

Connect to the Sybase database:

• for Provider, use the 'ADO.NET Provider'
• for Server name, use the IP address, not the DSEdit alias
• for User name use 'sa'.

Connect to the MS SQL Server database. Enter the correct database name. For User name, use 'sa'.

In the Save Metadata dialog, select the correct database.

All the code of the Sybase database will now be loaded. This usually takes a few minutes, although on some systems it can take up to 20 minutes. The code of all Sybase objects is saved in xml files on disk.

For some defaults and rules, errors like the one shown below will occur. You can ignore these errors. Defaults and rules are not migrated.
