Hour codes

Use the Hour codes form to register the types of work that can be performed. These hour codes are used in the time registration phase to indicate how the hours were spent, such as 'Work consultation', 'Cycle time' or 'Setup/adjustment'. Also the posting method must be specified for hour codes. You could, for example, specify that hours are to be posted as 'Setup/adjustment costs', 'Machine cycle costs', 'Cycle labor costs', or to a cost center. In the hour code settings, you can also specify alternative labor and machine rates to be used as actual costing rates.

There are four types of hour codes:

For your convenience, hour codes can be organized into hour groups.

Presence

Presence hours are used to register the time an employee was present. This information is important if you want to check the time of presence against the registered time. To post presence hours, you could use the hour code 'PR' ('Present'), for example. As presence hours are registered for informational purposes only, no costs are posted for these hours.

Presence registration - Direct

Use the 'Presence registration' hour type to keep track of the employee's activities during the time he was present. Most hour codes will be of this type: Registration of the hours worked. 'Presence registration - Direct' refers to direct hours, i.e. hours spent on an offer or order. Examples of direct hours are 'Setup time' and 'Cycle time'.

Hours of the 'Presence registration - Direct' type could be posted as 'Setup costs', 'Adjustment costs', 'Cycle labor costs', etcetera.

Presence registration - Indirect

Use the 'Presence registration' hour type to keep track of the employee's activities during the time he was present. Most hour codes will be of this type: Registration of the hours worked. 'Presence registration - Indirect' refers to indirect hours, i.e. hours not specifically spent on an offer or order. Examples of indirect hours are 'Work consultation' and 'Cleaning'.

Hours with indirect hour codes can be posted to a cost center, as they are not spent on a particular order.

Absence registration

Use this hour type to register what an employee did during his or her absence, or why the employee was absent. Reasons for an employee's absence could be 'Doctor's appointment', 'Illness', or 'Holiday'. As absence hours are registered for informational purposes only, no costs are posted for hour codes of this type.
