Successors

This shows the project lines that have a successor relationship with the line selected on the Projects form. To create successors, refer to the Creating successor relationships section. Project lines and successors must exist within the same project. If a project line and a successor exist at different levels within a project, a line code must be filled in for the successor. Only this line code can tell you between which project lines a successor relationship was created. Successors cannot be project lines of the 'Project', 'Plan group' or 'Costs' type.

The successor type shows how the successor is linked to its predecessor:

End - Start: The start date of the successor is one day after the end date of the predecessor.
Start - Start: The start date of the successor is the same as the start date of the predecessor.
End - End: The end date of the successor is the same as the end date of the predecessor.

If the linked project lines overlap, the amount of the overlap is shown. It is expressed in days or as a percentage. Overlaps allow you to start an activity even before its predecessor has fully completed. The overlap is calculated relative to the lead time of the predecessor, and is rounded up to full days. An overlap percentage cannot be negative, and can be entered only if the successor type is 'End - Start'. An overlap in days can be negative, in which case it will cause a delay in the planning.
