Logging in Without a Password

This document provides instructions when you want to log into an Isah database and you have lost the password of a specific user or when the database does not yet contain any Isah users.

To log into Isah without an Isah password

  1. Start Isah. The Isah Login form will be displayed.
  2. In the Administration field, select the database to which you want to log in.
  3. In the Name field, type ‘sa’, followed by a right angle bracket (>) and then type the Isah user name whose password was lost. ‘sa’ stands for ‘System Administrator’ and concerns a MS SQL Server account that can access every database on the MS SQL server.

    Example

    Database: ProductionDB

    Name: sa>John

  4. You can, however, also choose to enter an entirely new user name following the right angle bracket. This user will then be created in the database concerned. Note that a new user name can contain up to 10 characters.
  5. In the Password field, type the password for the ‘sa’ user.
  6. Click OK to log into Isah.
  7. When it concerns a password that was lost: Open the General Settings module, Rights, and choose Users. Select the user whose password was lost and on the Edit menu, choose Modify password. Enter a new password and confirm this password. It is not necessary to enter the old password. Click OK to activate the new password. The user can now log in using his new password.
  8. When it concerns a new user: Open the General Settings module, Rights, and choose Users. Select the user you just created and on the Edit menu, choose Create rights to assign the proper rights to this user. For more information on rights, please refer to the Isah online help.
