Auto-numbering process

Use this form to define any prefixes for the codes to be numbered automatically (as specified on the System fields form). Prefixes are used mainly to show the year in the code, for example '14' for '2014'.

The validity of the codes is indicated by means of a prefix. The prefix counts towards the total length of the code specified in the Maximum field length field.

Example

The customer code requires the following prefixes:

14: valid until December 31, 2014

15: valid until 12/31/2015

16: valid until 12/31/2016

The customer code has a maximum length of five positions. For the customer code itself, three positions are available (5 minus 2). This means that 999 customer codes are available in each year.
