Which lead time is used in the planning?

Explanation of terms

  • Fixed lead time:

The fixed lead time is shown on the Production calculation for operations form.

  • Minimum lead time:

The minimum lead time is shown on the Production calculation for operations form.

  • Plan time:

The plan time is shown on the Planning tab of the Production calculation for operations form. If you are planning with machine times, the planned time is displayed to the right of the Machine line; if you are planning with labor times, the planned time is displayed to the right of the Labor line.

The plan time is initially determined by adding up the setup time, the cycle time, and the adjustment time. If hours have been posted against the operation (actual costing), these hours are deducted from the plan time. Therefore, when re-planning, the time already spent on an operation will be taken into account.

The plan time can be changed on the Planning tab. You may have to change the plan time if an operation will take longer or shorter than originally scheduled. When re-planning, the changed plan time will be taken into account.
