Descriptions (Day Book)

In this section you will find the default values presented for the day book entry. You can still change them when entering data.

If you select the option ‘Day Book Page Number’, you will be presented with a description when you create an entry in the system. The specification ‘Page 25’ will then be added to the day book, for example. You can change this specification if required.

If you select the option ‘Free Entry’, no default description is entered; in this case, you must provide the description yourself.

You have the option to enter a default description which is displayed in the lines of a day book page. You can change this description in the lines if and as needed. The following options are available:

Ledger Account: This is the description of the ledger account provided.
Page Description: The value displayed in the Page Description field is used as a default description.
Debtor/Creditor: This is the name of the relevant debtor or creditor.
Free Entry: If you select the option ‘Free Entry’, no default description is entered; in this case, you must provide the description yourself.

You have the option to enter a default description which is displayed for the payment reference in day book pages. Note: this only applies to day books categorized as ‘Sale’ or ‘Purchase’. You can edit the description in the pages if you like.
