Example of scheduling based on infinite capacity

A production file with two operations must be scheduled. These operations take place consecutively.

The capacity and load of the capacity group for operation A will look like this:

Assumptions

• Based on infinite capacity
• Minimum and fixed lead time are '0'
• Start date is October 21

Results

When planning based on infinite capacity, the plan time for the operations is matched against the capacity of the capacity group. Other production orders that have already been scheduled are not taken into account. Production file X will therefore be scheduled as follows:

• For operation A, the plan time is 24 hours, and the capacity is 8 hours per day. As you can see, the operation will take 3 days. If the start date is October 21, the end date will be October 23.
• For operation B, the plan time is 40 hours, and the capacity is 16 hours per day. Operation A ends on October 23, which means operation B will start on October 24. Operation B takes 3 days, but as no capacity is available on October 26 and 27, the end date will be October 28.
