For some type of goods, you need to specify not just the weight, but also a supplementary statistical unit, such as pieces, pairs, or liters. Any commodity codes for which a supplementary unit must be specified will have a footnote in the CN explaining this.

You only need to specify a number as the supplementary statistical unit; the CBS will recognize the nature of the supplementary unit from the commodity code used.
