Journal

A journal lists all transactions. The data are retrieved from the cash/bank, sales and purchase day books.

Column

Description

Period

The period defined on the Fiscal Periods form.

Date

The date of the posting.

Account

The ledger account the amount was posted to.

Debtor

The debtor name or code.

Creditor

The creditor name or code.

Invoice/reference

The invoice code or the reference of the purchase or sales invoice.

Cost center

The ledger account the amount was posted to.

Transaction description

The name of the transaction.

Amount

The transaction amount for each account number. The amount is expressed in the company currency.

In addition to the transaction amount, you can display the following amounts onto the form by using the Columns button:

Tip: To see the name as well as the creditor or debtor code, click the Columns button and drag 'Description' next to the 'Debtor' or 'Creditor' column header.

Checking VAT returns and EC Sales Lists

The journal allows you to check whether all entries made during a particular period have been included in the return, and to see the individual elements of the return. Different form settings are available for this purpose.
