Why does a capacity group have insufficient capacity lines?
During scheduling, you may see a message saying that there are insufficient capacity lines available for a particular capacity group. This may happen when you run the Perform lead time planning, Run MRP process, or when you manually change the planning in the Gantt chart of a production file or operation line. In that scenario, you are calculating the planning for a day that has no or insufficient capacity. This usually happens when the plan date is outside of the period for which you have calculated the capacity.
Checking the capacity
Verify that the capacity groups have sufficient capacity available:
Open the Capacity groups form, click the Info menu, choose 'Calculated capacity', and then click the Annual overview tab.
Check whether sufficient capacity is available for the current year, the next year (when scheduling forward), or the previous year (when scheduling backwards).
Repeat these steps for all capacity groups.
Calculating capacity
Calculate the capacity for capacity groups that have insufficient capacity.
On the Capacity groups form, select the first capacity group with insufficient capacity, and then click the Capacity lines button.
Select a capacity line, click the General tab, and check whether the period specified is long enough. If it is not, adjust the period. Check the other information and save your changes.
Open the Capacity groups form, click the Edit menu, choose 'Calculate capacity', and then fill in the details on the form. If, for example, you perform the check on 1 December and you always schedule forward, then enter '1 December' in the From date field, and enter '31 December' in the To date field of the next year. Click OK to register the capacity of the capacity group.
Repeat these steps for all capacity groups.
Tip: Once you have registered the capacity of a capacity group, you can use the Copy capacity lines option to copy the capacity lines to another capacity group. When you then perform the Calculate capacity process, select 'All', 'Greater than or equal to', and choose the first capacity group to calculate all groups in one go.
