Operations planning board

The Operations planning board form gives you a quick insight into the planning of operations. Any bottlenecks detected can immediately be removed by rescheduling the operations on the graphic planning board (Gantt chart tab).

Who can use the operations planning board?

The planner can use the operations planning board to answer questions such as: How much availability do we have left in the planning schedule? Do we have any backlogs and how can we remove them? Also other employees can profit from the operations planning board, however. Purchase employees, for example, can check whether the necessary parts have arrived to start production, and sales employees can verify whether a particular new order can be added to the planning schedule.

Keeping the operations planning board up to date

If the operations planning board is up to date, it provides you with the most accurate information about the load of the capacity groups and the entire factory. It also increases your delivery reliability, as you know exactly when you can deliver your orders. To help keep the operations planning board up to date, do the following:

• Process hour lines
• Complete production orders or their operations as soon as the work has completed
• Change statuses
• Calculate (or recalculate) the planning.

When are operation lines shown on the operations planning board?

The operations planning board shows the operation lines of a production file if the following conditions are true:

• The operations have been scheduled: the operation lines have a start date and an end date.
• The operation lines have not been confirmed as complete.
• The production file of which the operation lines are part has not been confirmed as complete either.
• The production file has a status type other than 'History'
• The operations for capacity groups and the operations for employees are set to be visible on the operations planning board.

Presets

Use a preset to specify the details to be displayed on the form:

• Default selection: Shows planned operations by capacity group. Make sure that Capacity group is the first column on the List tab.
• Production files: Shows the planned operations by production file, as well as the relationships between the operations and the lead time of the entire production file. Make sure that Production file is the first column on the List tab. In order to see the production file, at least one operation must have been scheduled (the operation must have a start date and an end date).

  To display a production file without a production order code, you need to assign a status with a plan type other than 'No planning' to the operation and the production file on the General tab.

• Labor planning: Shows the planned operations that an employee must perform. Make sure that Employee is the first column on the List tab.
