Assign production order number

Run the Assign production order number process to automatically assign a production order number to a production file.

The difference between a production file and a production order is that a production order has been checked and approved for production. Once a production file has been approved, you should promote it to a production order by assigning a production order number to the file. This can be done in two ways:

• Using the Assign production order number process
• By manually entering a production order number in the production file.

If you use the process, the next available number will be assigned to the production file. The number format is defined on the Numbers form in the General Settings module.

The advantage of using the process is that the numbers will all have the same format.
