Operational applications

Use the Operational applications form to build flexible search paths. An operational application is a user-defined flexible search path.

A variety of options are available for setting up search paths. For each application, only a specific number of predefined variables are available for use when building a flexible search path. It is not possible to add any variables. The output, which is the result of a flexible search path, is also limited to predefined output values. You do, however, have full control of the number of levels to be checked and the order in which they must be checked. As with fixed search paths, you do not have to use the value suggested by the search path. This means you can choose to overwrite the result of the flexible search path by a different value.

Adding flexible search paths

Use the Operational applications form to add a flexible search path. Select the application for which you want to build the search path and enter a name for the search path. Then use the buttons at the bottom of the form to build the flexible search path.

You can define more than one flexible search path for each application. For example, you could define a test search path on the first line, and the actual search path on the next line.

Use the Flexible search path settings form to specify which operational application is valid. This application will be used to retrieve data.

Tip: Once you have defined a flexible search path, you can test it using the Test search path process.
