Use the Plan groups form to set up groups allowing you to make rough calculations of different costs and turnover categories at project level. These rough calculations will give you estimates of the costs and the turnover, which you can later compare with the actual costs and turnover.
For a quick, high-level insight into your project costs, turnover, or planning, use plan groups. Plan groups give you a different cross section of your project data. Plan groups allow you to add up items such as costs, hours, and materials that belong together but originate from different lines. For example, you can differentiate internal hours, third-party materials and hours, or materials and operations.
A quick project setup with an order link gives you a high-level insight into:
Project costs and turnover. For each plan group, you could track the project budget against the preliminary and actual figures.
Structure, phases, planning, and progress of a project. This allows you to monitor the project, and to steer it based on order data.
Use this field to differentiate the different plan group types. You can choose from the following options:
Not applicable:
Choose this option if you do not want to organize the plan groups into different types.
Part:
This plan type is used for the cost component 'Parts'.
Operations:
This plan type is used for the cost component 'Operations'.
Equipment:
This plan type is used for the cost component 'Equipment'.
External operation:
This plan type is used for the cost component 'External operations'.
Other costs:
Use this type to include costs that are not part of the parts, operations, equipment, or external operations components. Examples are traveling expenses, insurance costs, and the like.
Miscellaneous:
Use the 'Miscellaneous' type to gain insight into the total costs of semi-finished products, for example. These costs are usually composed of calculation lines relating to one or more costs components. If you assign the same plan group to the different calculation lines, you will be able to display a plan group total.
Period turnover:
This type is used to display period turnover data.
Turnover:
This type is used to display turnover data.
Unknown:
This type is used as a 'safety net'. If you monitor a project by plan groups, and one or more calculation lines do not have a plan group, then costs or revenues could be missing from your overview. To prevent this, create a plan group of the 'Unknown' type. This plan group is used in the Create plan group lines process to retrieve calculation lines that do not have a plan group. You are recommended to assign a plan group to these lines as soon as possible.
