Use the BOM definitions form to specify the settings for the BOM on the drawing. Define the columns of the BOM on the BOM columns form. The layout of the BOM on the drawing is created in the CAD application. For AutoCAD, however, you need to create the layout in Isah.
BOM definitions are created for individual CAD applications, languages and Isah tables (with parts, part revisions, engineering items, or production files). You can copy existing BOM definitions to facilitate the creation of BOM definitions.
When inserting a BOM into a drawing, the user must choose a definition. Only the BOM definitions that are applicable to the CAD application are available.
The BOM definition is determined by application. Where required, the BOM composition on the AutoCAD drawing, could, for instance, be different from the one in Autodesk Inventor.
The BOM definition is determined by language. The language code you specify determines which description and memo text (if any) are used in the BOM on the drawing. For the description, Isah checks whether a part text is present for the language code in question.
The BOM definition is determined by Isah table. The tables contain the Isah items to which documents can be linked: parts, part revisions, engineering items, or production files. In addition to the main table, also fields from related tables are available.
Where applicable, type the name of the template to be used in the CAD software (SolidWorks, for example) in the Template style field. Not all CAD applications support this option.
The value of the Dimension conversion factor field determines the unit in which the dimensions are displayed in the BOM on the drawing. For example, they could be displayed in millimeters or meters. Indicate how those dimensions relate to the length, width and height as specified in the calculation. If they are expressed in meters in the calculation, but you want them to be displayed in millimeters in the BOM on the drawing, fill in '-3'. This results in the comma being moved three positions to the right. If in the calculation they are expressed in meters, but you want them to be displayed in kilometers in the BOM on the drawing, fill in '3'. This results in the comma being moved three positions to the left.
Select the Show only external lines check box to restrict the BOM on the drawing to only those lines that were added as a result of the CAD integration.
Select the Use anchor point check box to place the BOM on a fixed location in the drawing. Use the Position field to specify the location, such as 'Bottom right'. At present, these fields are only used in the integration functionality for SolidWorks.
