You can already enter component data that will be copied to the production file during synchronization.
Fields
Most revision information is filled in automatically. Use the Description field to enter explanatory text for the revision. The List tab shows the first line of the description.
When filling in this field, you can select a value from the list box, or you can manually enter a unit that is not in the list.
The unit code indicates the dimensions used (dimension fields). You can enter more or fewer dimensions than are defined for the unit code. The unit code also controls which data are available as document properties for standard CAD integrations. For instance, if the unit code is 'Quantity * Length', a length value can be defined as a property for a document, but no width or height values can be registered.
If you specify a part for the engineering item, you can use the sequence indicator to ensure that the unit and unit code always match the unit and unit code of the part. Once you choose a part with a different unit or unit code, or change one of these fields for the engineering item, the sequence indicator link will be broken. By reactivating the sequence indicator link, the fields will again be matched to those of the linked part.
In these fields, the dimensions of the engineering item are fixed. They are populated by your default or customized CAD integration. You can also populate the fields yourself, regardless of the unit code.
Before you start synchronizing with production, the engineering item must be linked to a part if that engineering item is included in an engineering BOM. The engineering item is then added to the production calculation as a part during synchronization. If the engineering item only appears in the header and not in an engineering BOM, there is no need to link it to a part. The engineering item is linked to a production file that already contains a part.
The part also controls settings such as the Part type and the Order code. For some fields, data are copied from the part when a part is selected and the data are not yet available for the engineering item. These fields are:
The engineering item status indicates the phase the engineering item is in, for example 'Released for production'. The use of engineering items statuses is not required.
After an engineering item has been changed, the Changed field is enabled and the following data are filled in: the user who made the change and the date and time the change was made.
The changes could include:
The Changed field is cleared after successful synchronization with the production calculation. (The synchronization is successful if no synchronization messages are written to the log.)
