The Extended trial balance overview is a combination of the Balance sheet and Profit & loss overviews, showing the debit and credit amounts of the ledger accounts. In addition, it shows the opening balance and the transactions excluding the opening balance amounts. The first two columns in the Transactions section show the total debit and credit amounts for each ledger account, and the third and fourth columns contain the debit and credit balances of the ledger accounts. Therefore, the amounts in the transaction columns only show the amounts of the current fiscal year. The debit and credit balances are displayed in the Balance sheet or Profit & loss column, depending on the account type.
The balances of the balance sheet accounts include the opening balance. The opening balance itself is also shown in a column. Bear in mind, however, that this is only true if a prior fiscal year exists.
