The Part type and Order code fields are used:
The value of the Engineering item field controls whether and how the engineering item is synchronized with the part or the production file. The value of the BOM field controls whether and how the engineering BOM is synchronized with the part or production calculation.
Possible combinations of the settings are:
|
BOM: Do not synchronize |
BOM: Engineering is leading (default) |
Engineering item: Do not synchronize |
The engineering item is not synchronized. This option might be used when the engineer wants to try different models. |
The engineering item itself is not synchronized, but the BOM is. This option might be used if a part or production file has already been created and is only waiting for the BOM to be supplied by Engineering. |
Engineering item: Engineering is leading (default) |
Only the engineering item is synchronized with the part or production file. This option might be used for a purchase part without a BOM. In this case, the default option (Synchronize item and BOM) will have the same result. |
Both the engineering item and the BOM are synchronized with the part or production file. This option is the most obvious one. |
Engineering item: Engineering is following |
Synchronization takes place from the part or production file to the engineering item. Select this combination if the part or the production file has already been specified, and their data are leading, for example in the case of a purchase part with a BOM for which the engineering item exists but no engineering takes place. |
Synchronization takes place from the part or the production file to the engineering item, and the BOM is copied from engineering to the part or production file. The part or production file has already been specified, and their data are leading. The BOM is determined by engineering, however. |
