Synchronize engineering/part

Use the Synchronize engineering/part process to synchronize an engineering item with the part to which it is linked. It concerns the engineering item revision selected on the Engineering items form, including all underlying engineering item revisions and/or memos, texts and documents if desired.

The items copied and their copy destination depend on the settings in the Synchronize section of the Engineering items form.

You control the time of synchronization. For example, you could synchronize when the engineer has finished the design.

Conditions

In order to be able to synchronize an engineering item with a part, the following conditions must be true:

• The value of the Engineering item field in the Synchronize section may not be 'Do not synchronize'.
• The engineering item is linked to at least one part.
• The part calculation is not locked.
• The part is not obsolete.
• The part revision has not been released.
• The engineering item and the part have the same unit code.
• A unique part can be found for the part BOM line.

Results

• For every line of the engineering BOM, a line is created in the part calculation of the linked part. If there are parts with the same code as engineering items that are present in the structure to be synchronized, the item and the part are linked to each other.

  If the part to which the item is to be linked does not exist, it is created automatically during the synchronization process. During synchronization, parts are automatically created based on an engineering item only if the value of the Part coding field on the Engineering form is 'Based on number table' or 'Equal to engineering item code'.

• If an engineering BOM line has already been linked, the data are updated.
• If a part calculation line is no longer linked, but is marked as 'External' (created by the engineering link), the line will be deleted.

Memos, texts and documents are copied:

• From the engineering item to be synchronized to the part linked to it
• From the engineering items in the engineering BOM to the part BOM
