The value in this field uniquely identifies the object. Depending on the settings specified for the part the object is based on (Parts module, Parts form, Object tab, Object-linked field), the object code will either be created automatically, or must be created manually. You could use the object's serial number or chassis number as an object code.
This field contains the part code of the part the object is based on. When you enter the part code, the corresponding part data are automatically retrieved from the Parts module.
Note: It is not mandatory to specify a part code for a registered object. This allows you to register a non-physical object - such as a delivery address, location, or reference object - as an object without creating a part.
You can also change or delete the part code of an existing object. For example, if you have registered an engine as an object, and this engine must be assigned another part code/revision code combination after it has been overhauled, you can still record this information in the object data.
See also Change part data.
Add part features to object features
You can copy the features of the part on which the object is based. To do so, select the Add part features to object features check box on the General tab of the Objects form.
Note: This is only possible if the object is saved with the setting enabled, without the setting having been enabled previously.
An object type indicates the type of object the object code refers to: a serial number, machine code, batch code, location, etcetera. Object types can be set up to meet your company's specific needs.
Object groups allow you to conveniently organize your objects. Object groups make it easier to monitor and manage objects. Object groups are not used for processes; they are informational only.
This field contains the date on which the object was created or registered. This date can be modified.
This field contains the date on which the object stops existing or is no longer relevant for your records. This date is checked, for example, when you enter a service notification for the object or run reports.
To change this date, open the Edit menu and choose Change object end date.
This is an informational field. It indicates when an object was installed. For example, the object could be a machine installed on location.
This field contains the commencement date of the warranty period for the object.
This field contains the date on which the warranty period ends. Both the warranty start date and the warranty end date are factors in determining the service contract and the service contract version when you enter a service notification. This is the case when a 'contract' of the 'Template' type is found for the object (i.e. general warranty terms and conditions).
This check box is selected if the object is part of an as-built structure.
You can use a lot number to identify the origin of a group of parts.
Note: Certificates are external codes which a parts supplier has assigned to a parts lot or a single part. Lot numbers are internal codes which you assign to a parts lot.
Use this field to enter the certificate number specified by the supplier. The certificate number enables suppliers to guarantee the quality of their parts.
Note: Certificates are external codes which a parts supplier has assigned to a parts lot or a single part. Lot numbers are internal codes which you assign to a parts lot.
Use this field to enter additional information about the object. The contents in this informational field are displayed at other locations of the program, for example on offers and orders.
Use the quality code to specify the quality standards the object must meet, for example 'Assembled'. If the object is included in an offer or order, the quality code will be displayed as well. The field value can still be modified here.
