Use the Objects by contract version form to specify the objects to which the service contract version of the 'Contract' type applies. By specifying a range, you can determine the extent to which a contract version also applies to the underlying objects in the as-built structure of the object that you are linking to a service contract version. Service contract versions for objects at lower levels of the as-built structure have priority over service contract versions applying to objects located at higher levels of the structure.
The date range of the objects must fall within, or be equal to, the range of the service contract.
Conditions for including objects in contract versions
An object that has been added may, on any particular date in its date range (between the start and end dates of the object within the version), exist in only one contract version that has the following settings:
If an object does exist in a second contract version in the same date range, this contract version:
or
This means that it is possible to add an object to multiple valid contract versions, in the same date range, with an 'Order' or 'Actual costing' status: one for corrective maintenance and one for non-corrective maintenance, where each has its own conditions. If the contract has an 'Offer' or 'History' status, you can create as many contract versions as desired.
Auto-generating data using flexible search paths
You can use flexible search paths for the Create preventive maintenanceand Determine corrective maintenance contract sum processes. This means that when you include objects in a service contract version, some data can be determined automatically. For these processes, the following search paths are used (the application code is shown between parentheses):
When determining preventive maintenance, flexible search paths 5 and 6 are used successively. Search path 5 is used to determine the required service types and the frequency with which these types are to be carried out. Search path 6 is used to determine the other data to be entered on the Preventive maintenance form, such as part, supplier, and prices.
This procedure allows you to specify a different part for each service type/object combination. The part allows you to include different materials and operations for each service type/object combination.
Note: The values of the Currency and Date fields are entered based on the currency and start date of the selected contract version.
