Use the Default values for subsequent operation form to define default values for internal transport times, waiting times, and/or overlaps between operations. These values are default values for the link between two operations (capacity groups). These default values are used for the operations sequence in the part calculation and the production calculation.
Default values can be defined for various links between capacity groups:
From one specific capacity group to another specific capacity group
From one specific capacity group to a random capacity group
From a random capacity group to one specific capacity group
From a random capacity group to another random capacity group
One capacity group can have multiple default values. The default values used on the Subsequent operations form in the production modules depend on the following settings:
Specific capacity groups take precedence over random capacity groups.
Filled fields (Overlap percent to Waiting time before) take precedence over empty fields.
Example
There is a 50% overlap between capacity group A and capacity group B.
Between one random capacity group and another, there is a 25% overlap and a one-hour transport time. These values apply to all capacity groups, so including capacity groups A and B.
Overlaps have been defined for all capacity groups, and for the specific capacity groups A and B. The latter has priority, which means that the 50% overlap will apply. No transport time has been registered for the specific capacity groups A and B, which means that the transport time set for random capacity groups will apply, which is 1 hour.
If no capacity group is filled in, any capacity group will be valid. If you do fill in a capacity group, the specified default values will apply to that capacity group ('From' or 'To'). You can then also establish the following links:
From one specific capacity group to another specific capacity group
From one specific capacity group to a random capacity group
From a random capacity group to one specific capacity group
From a random capacity group to another random capacity group
Use this field to specify a default value for the overlap between two capacity groups. This allows you to indicate that a subsequent operation can be started after only a particular percentage of the previous operation has been performed, and thereby shorten the lead time.
If you enter a value greater than '0' in this field, the Active check box will be selected automatically. You can deselect the check box if required. The default value is used only if the Active check box is selected.
Example
You could specify that operation Y can start once 25% of operation X has been performed. The overlap is calculated on the basis of the lead time of operation X. If the lead time of operation X is four days, the overlap will be: 25% * 4 days = 1 day. Operation Y will therefore start 4 - 1 = 3 days after the start date of operation X.
Use this field to specify a default value for the transport time between two capacity groups. This is the time required to transport goods from one operation location to another.
If you enter a value greater than '0' in this field, the Active check box will be selected automatically. You can deselect the check box if required. The default value is used only if the Active check box is selected.
Use this field to specify a default value for the post-operation waiting time between two capacity groups. The 'Waiting time after' field shows the amount of time to be reserved before the subsequent operation can be performed. For example, you could specify that a part needs to cool off for half an hour before the next operation can be performed.
The 'Waiting time after' relates to the previous operation. This means that the waiting time you specify will be scheduled as part of the previous operation, and that, in doing so, the number of available hours of that previous operation will be taken into account.
If you enter a value greater than '0' in this field, the Active check box will be selected automatically. You can deselect the check box if required. The default value is used only if the Active check box is selected.
Use this field to specify a default value for the pre-operation waiting time between two capacity groups. The 'Waiting time before' field shows the amount of time to be reserved before the subsequent operation can be performed. For example, you could specify that a part needs to acclimatize for twelve hours before the operation can be performed.
If you enter a value greater than '0' in this field, the Active check box will be selected automatically. You can deselect the check box if required. The default value is used only if the Active check box is selected.
