The WIP location form lists the WIP locations containing parts to order.
The WIP location feature is used to register the storage of parts purchased or produced to order. As the items will not be part of your stock, a separate location is required. This location is called the 'Work in Progress (WIP) location'.
Tracking WIP locations is very much like tracking regular stock. One of the differences is that tracking the WIP location has no financial implications, because it does not affect the stock.
Temporary locations can be registered for the following types of parts:
For each WIP location line, the Blocked for issues and shipments check box shows how the stock line is processed. If the check box is selected, the line is not used when issuing the 'WIP location' to production or when shipping the 'WIP location' to a customer. The check box is selected automatically if the Blocked for issues and shipments check box is selectedon the Stock statuses form and/or the Warehouse locations form. This means that if at least one of these check boxes is selected, the stock or the WIP location can no longer be used for issuing or shipping items.
Settings
To see the parts for which WIP locations can be tracked, check the Location of parts to order section on the Settings tab of the Basic data form. The settings are based on the origin and destination of the parts:
The Active field on the Logistics tab of the Partsform allows you to enable or disable the use of WIP locations for each individual part. By default, the use of WIP locations is disabled. To use WIP locations for a particular part, you need to select the Active check box for the relevant part.
