The Object-linked field specifies whether you want to work with objects for this part. If this field is set to 'Yes', you can create objects by assigning a unique number. If this field is set to 'No', you cannot create any objects.
When a new part is added, the Object-linked field is set to 'No' by default. You can change this setting by running the Change object linkage process from the Edit menu.
If the value in the Object-linked field is 'Yes, create manually', you have to create the object yourself on the Objects form. You also specify the sequence number there.
If the Object-linked field is set to 'Yes, auto-create', the sequence number will be created automatically. Auto-created objects are assigned codes based on a search path. The search path is checked in descending order, as follows:
If the Sequence number field in the Parts module is used to assign a code, the next available number will be assigned to the object, and the value in this field will be increased automatically. This field therefore always tells you the last assigned sequence number.
An object code can consist of more than just a sequence number. For example, you could choose to compose the code of using various elements, such as 'Part code' + 'Year' + 'Sequence number'. You can define the numbering method in a script that is filled in on the Object tab of the Basic data form (General Settings module, Settings item).
The object type is the type of object this part refers to. For example, you can add parts with an object type of 'Serial number', 'Machine code', 'Device', or 'Location'.
The Object group field can be used to organize parts into groups that are useful from an object point of view.
If your service parts are organized into service part groups, use this field to enter the group to which the part belongs, for example 'Maintenance prone' of 'Wear and tear related'.
Production receipt
This setting is relevant if you are using Shop Floor Control (SFC), and use SFC to create unique object numbers for produced parts. There are four possible settings, depending on the value shown in the Object-linked field, as that value controls which settings in the Link objects field are relevant.
Parts finalized during production, and therefore released for further production (semi-finished articles), stock or sales orders, can automatically be assigned unique object codes.
The following settings are relevant if you want to use object codes for parts that are finalized during production.
Use the following settings to configure the use of object codes:
Note: Because object codes are always unique, Shop Floor Control will create a unique object code for each individual part you register. If you register a quantity of five, then five object codes will be created.
Not
This setting is the default. Select it if you are not creating object codes in SFC.
Use existing object codes
If your company uses predefined object codes for parts in a particular production order, create these object codes in advance. When the production employee finalizes a part (thereby creating a production receipt), SFC will automatically assign the right code to the object. If multiple parts are finalized that should all be assigned a unique object code, they will all be assigned an individual code from the predefined list. The production employee cannot control the order. All parts that are finalized during this operation are, in principle, identical, but are each assigned a unique code.
If there are insufficient codes for the number of objects, then a message will appear and no parts can be finalized for the creation of a production receipt until new codes have been created.
Create new object codes
If you choose to create new object codes, Isah will create them when quantities are entered for object parts in SFC. Isah will determine the code to be assigned to an object by using the following search path:
First use existing object codes, then create new ones
Choose this option if you do not want to see any messages when the number of object codes is insufficient (see 'Only use existing object codes'). Once all of the predefined object codes have been used, Isah will generate new codes (see 'Create new object codes') for all additional objects registered by production employees.
