Planning based on labor or machine times

The planning process mainly consists of scheduling lead times of operations. Setup, adjustment, and operation times, which are used to calculate the lead time, can be specified for employees and for machines. Use the Based on field to specify whether you want the scheduling to take place based on labor times or machine times.

The Based on field is available in the capacity groups and in the operation calculation of production files. The value set for the capacity group is used whenever the capacity group is included in an operation calculation of a production file. The field value can still be modified here.

Planning using labor hours

Labor planning allows you to do the following:

• You can perform the planning calculations with labor hours using the Perform lead time planning process. If the planning is based on labor hours, the labor times from the operation line are used.
• Employees can be linked to an operations schedule, in order to allow you to schedule using labor hours. To link one employee to an operation, select this employee in the Employee field on the Operations calculation form or the Production calculation for operations form. To link multiple employees to an operation line, click the Personnel button on the calculation form or the production calculation form.
• The employee for whom the Visible on capacity overview check box has been selected will be shown in the Personnel field on the Operations calculation and Production calculation for operations forms.
• When you run the Copy calculation from part to production file process, the linked employees are copied from the part calculation to the production calculation.
• The employees linked to the operation are shown on the operations planning board. This requires the Visible on operations planning boardcheck box to be selected. On the Operations planning board form, you can use a preset to find the operations for which an employee is scheduled.

Planning based on machine hours

If the planning is based on machine hours, the machine times from the operation line are used.

Note: Personnel schedules are not used for the Perform lead time planning process. Scheduling takes place based on the available capacity of the capacity group specified on the operation line.
